Frequently Asked Questions

  • To begin the custom costume process with Sew Stoppers, start by exploring your design vision, including preferred fabrics, colors, themes, and any inspiration you want incorporated. Print the sketch template from our process page if you want to draw or refine your concept. Next, take your measurements using the provided guidance so we can ensure a perfect fit. Then submit your order through our online order form and choose the option that works best for you, whether you want to collaborate with our design team or create your own design. Once submitted, we will reach out to confirm details and guide you through the next steps.

  • Our typical turnaround time is approximately 10 to 12 weeks, though this may vary depending on order volume and the time of year. While the physical construction of each costume is completed quickly, overall timing reflects our production queue and the orders placed ahead of yours. Sew Stoppers is a small business, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as we give each costume the care and attention it deserves.

  • No, we do not provide progress photos or in-process updates. A costume on a mannequin does not accurately represent how it will look on the athlete it was made for, and production photos often lead to confusion or unnecessary concern. For this reason, we do not share photos of the costume during production. Occasionally, we may share small sneak peeks, but we do not release images of the full costume prior to completion. Please trust our expertise and know that your finished costume will closely match, and often exceed, the approved final design.

  • Yes. Once your invoice is issued, you may make payments at your convenience. However, the finished costume will not ship until the full balance is paid. You will receive an email notification when your costume enters production, which is an ideal time to settle any remaining balance to ensure timely shipment. Once production begins, the remaining process moves very quickly.

  • The non-refundable deposit secures your place in our production schedule and allows us to purchase the materials required to bring your custom design to life.

  • If you have questions about measurements, please first watch the measurement instruction video linked on our website. If you still feel unsure or would like added reassurance, you may schedule a free FaceTime measurement consultation with our team to help ensure accuracy.

  • Each Sew Stoppers costume is created using a digital pattern built from your exact measurements, resulting in a precise and tailored fit. However, if incorrect measurements are submitted, the fit will be affected. While errors are rare, if a mistake occurs on our end, we will do everything possible to correct it. If measurements were accurate, we will make any necessary alterations. If incorrect measurements were provided, alteration fees will be the responsibility of the client. This is why accurate measurements are extremely important.
